This is a project I completed for Devils Reef, a Maryland-based death metal band. I created a sheet music book (known as a tab book in the music industry) so that fans of the band can learn guitar and bass from the band's E.P. "A Whisper from the Cosmos". On top of designing the book itself, I also made product mockups (print and digital) and a 7-day social media ad campaign for the band.
In order to create the book, I exported the band's GuitarPro files into individual images, then arranged each image individually on the pages. Utilizing the band's album art, I designed the front and back covers, the internal spreads at the start of the book, and the song titles. I added gradients over the art in order to increase readability, and I drew additional illustrations in order to take advantage of empty space in the folios. I also placed band photos throughout the book to show off the band members and make use of empty space.
I can now confidently say that this tab book is the best designed in the death metal industry.
