This is a poster series I illustrated in Adobe Photoshop. Each poster is based upon the theories of Barbara Creed from her book "The Monstrous-Feminine: Film, Feminism, Psychoanalysis". After reading the book, I illustrated the films that best portrayed every archetype of the monstrous-feminine that was discussed in each section of the book. Because I am a graphic designer, I decided that it would be a fun experiment to illustrate the text, instead of choosing an existing font. Each poster is 11 x 17 in.

Archaic Mother archetype: Xenomorph, facehugger, and chestburster from the film "Alien" (1979)

Witch archetype: Carrie from the opening shower scene of the film "Carrie" (1976) and Carrie during the film’s iconic prom night scene

Monstrous Womb archetype: Nola and Broodlings from "The Brood" (1979)

Vampire archetype: vampires and victims from the films "The Vampire Lovers" (1970), "Lust for a Vampire" (1971), and "Twins of Evil" (1971)

Possessed Monster archetype: possessed Regan from "The Exorcist" (1973)
